In 2018, we purchased a run down, 2 acres, three structure property with a fuse box from 1932 and no running water. With the addition of a worldwide pandemic landing in the middle of construction and global supply and labor shortages, to call this project “difficult” would definitely be an understatement. All that being said, the best stroke of luck we got on this whole odyssey was having Rob Ramirez as our builder. From the onset of construction Rob was always present, accessible, and extremely friendly. Whether it be restoring the 100-year-old paneling in the living room or the nuances of the “next generation” septic tank we had to put in, Rob always took the time to walk us through each step, in a clear, informative, and patient manner. Even when receiving the dreaded, but unavoidable calls of “we found a problem,” Rob always conveyed the issue and solution calmly and optimistically, leaving us confident that Rob was on top of it and that everything would be promptly taken care of.
Mid way through the project we departed from our architect and decided to work with Rob directly. It was here that Rob truly excelled and showed that not only was he a wonderful manager of sub-contractors, expecting a high standard of work, but he also was chock full of artistic and innovative ideas to solve an array of problems. From difficult trim transitions to HVAC return placements, Rob always had well thought out suggestions that not only solved the problems, but also didn’t break the bank.
Navigating construction through the pandemic as easily as we did would have been impossible without Rob. Emails never went unanswered and phone calls never went unreturned. We always knew what was happening on site as Rob was able to distill the many moving parts of the project into a coherent and easy to understand picture of how construction was going. I cannot recommend Rob highly enough. Recently, one of our kids destroyed a screen door with a soccer ball, and though construction had been long finished, Rob immediately sent somebody out to repair it. The relationship doesn’t end with construction and that’s the kind of guy Rob is.
